Bus Transportation

To most kids, riding on the school bus is as big a part of school as the pop quiz. Not many people seem to notice the school bus driver and even if they did, it was probably just to ask if they could sit elsewhere that day. To many people, the school bus driver is nameless and not worth a full conversation. However, those same students probably aren’t aware of how difficult it can be to acquire the job of a certified school bus driver. Bus transportation laws—especially those that have to do with the safety of students young and old is taken very, very seriously by the government. And so, to even be qualified to apply for a job as a bus driver, plenty of details need to be filled out.

Of course the first thing they look for in a potential bus driver is their certification. Their “Commercial Driver’s License” is especially important in this case. There must be no shady details and their record (which includes both their professional and their personal record) has to be as spotless as a perfect white sheet. Bus transportation laws also dictate that they are given certain courses regarding emergency first-aid before starting on the job. Finally, it is required by bus transportation laws that they adhere to every single traffic law that is related to their job—even more so than perhaps any other driving job available. There are also extensive background checks, as the government does not look lightly upon a job that brings young students—the future of the country—to their respective schools.

So the next time you see a school bus driver, make sure to be polite and say hello. You can feel safe and secure in the fact that these school drivers had to go through a lot in order to get that job, and that they are truly qualified through bus transportation laws to drive students where they need to go.
